Madchen Amick Biography
Madchen Amick was born on the 12th of December 1970 in Reno, Nevada to a medical office manager and a musician, Judy and Bill Amick. Both her parents are German, and her name is the German word for girl. She is most famous for her role in the television series Twin Peaks, playing the character of Shelly Johnson. She also played the same part in the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, the prequel to the series.
At a young age, Madchen Amick's parents had already seen her talents and did their part to encourage it. At a very young age, she learned to play the piano, guitar, violin and bass. Her parents also enrolled her to modern dance, ballet, tap and jazz classes. When Madchen was 16, she left her hometown and went to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career.
In LA, Madchen Amick landed a guest starring part in the series, Star Trek: The Next Generation. In 1991, she was also seen in The Borrower. She landed her big break when David Lynch chose her for the part of Shelly Johnson, an abused wife, in his television series Twin Peaks. Madchen played one of the most important characters in the series and this made her one of the most famous stars on television.
Then in 1992, Madchen Amick appeared in the horror movie based on the Stephen King novel, Sleepwalkers. The following year, she was seen in the movie made for television Love, Cheat and Steal. Then the following year she was seen opposite actor James Spader in the thriller movie Dream Lover.
In 1995, Madchen Amick was seen in the comedy romance film French Exit and the year after that she was seen in the sci-fi Bombshell. In 1995, she returned on television series in the CBS’ Central Park West. Then in 1998, she was in Fantasy Island, the updated edition. Both the Central Park West and Fantasy Island, however, lasted for only one season.
From 2002 to 2003, Madchen Amick had a recurring role in the hit series Gilmore Girls. She was also seen in the hit drama series ER from 2004 to 2005. In 2005 she was seen in the sitcom Joey and in another sitcom Jake in Progress. Then in 2006 she landed a regular part in the sitcom Freddie, starring alongside Freddie Prinze, Jr.
In 2007, Madchen Amick was seen in Viva Laugling, Queens Supreme and Kidnapped. For 2008, she is set to appear in The Verdict.
